Memorial Day Parade 2009
Our council will be marching in the Mundelein Memorial Day Parade. Gather at Village Hall at 9:15 AM on Memorial Day, Monday May 25. We will march behind the flag and council banner. KofC shirts and hats along with casual dress - shorts etc. OK. Parade ends at Memorial Park where the American Legion conducts a solemn ceremony.
Pro Life Update
The Tenth Annual Pro Life Baby Shower is underway. The playpens are set up in the gathering space and will remain there through May. Encourage all to make a contribution of baby items. All items collected this year are going to Aid for Women, Waukegan.
The President said recently that FOCA is not a current top priority. However, be diligent. So far in 2009 federal funding restrictions on abortion in federal institutions overseas have been lifted as have bans on embryonic stem cell research.
In Illinois speak out opposing H.R. 2354 the "Reproductive Health and Access Act". Our rep Ed Sullivan is opposing this bill.
2008
The Council recently completed its ninth annual Pro Life Baby Shower. Two full playpens of baby items were donated by K of C and SMDP families in general, plus a few items on the side. All of these items were donated to the Pregnancy Counseling Center in Mundelein. This organization works with single mothers before and after the birth of their baby. Many of the women/girls are from right here in Mundelein, and some have a connection to SMDP. The council is grateful to Margo Rogers and the Ladies Auxiliary for their support again this year. 2009 will be the 10th anniversary of this program
The election season is about to kick in full time. There are clear differences between the candidates and the parties on the issue of life. As Knights we should be fully informed of the church's teaching and on the candidates and their positions.
